AUSD Looks Ahead in 2026

Schools are back in session this week after a much-needed break for all, and we’re happy to report that our campuses weathered the deluge of rain relatively well. We hope that everyone in the AUSD community stayed dry, cozy, and not too stir crazy during this extended stretch of rain.

Board of Education updates

At the December 9 Board of Education meeting [2], Vice President Ryan LaLonde became the new President, Clerk Heather Little became the new Vice President, and Member Jennifer Williams became the Clerk.

The first Board of Education meeting for 2026 will be held on January 13. Topics on the agenda include the naming process for the new Encinal Jr. & Sr. High School Athletic Field (we will have more information about that shortly) and AUSD’s Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), a state-mandated plan that describes how a district’s goals, actions, services, and expenditures support positive student outcomes. The January 13 presentation will explore AUSD’s LCAP Goal 2, which focuses on building relationships between families, students, and staff to ensure that all of our campuses are supportive, inclusive, and safe. Representatives from Wood Middle School and Earhart Elementary School will be in attendance to the relationship-building efforts at their schools.

The January 13 meeting will take place at City Hall at 6:30 p.m. and will be livestreamed via Zoom. The agenda and Zoom details are available on the AUSD Board Agendas & Minutes [3] webpage.
