100K Trees for Humanity, a nonprofit organization committed to environmental sustainability, will hold a community tree-planting event in partnership with the Alameda Recreation and Park Department on March 29, 9 a.m. to noon, at Linear Park on Main Street, between Atlantic and Singleton avenues.

Community members of all ages are invited to join together in beautifying our local environment by planting trees in a public space. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their enthusiasm for nature and a desire to make a positive impact on the community.
Volunteers should wear closed-toe shoes and bring their own water bottles and gloves. All other equipment will be provided by 100K Trees for Humanity.
Benefits of planting trees
Tree planting is a simple yet powerful act with numerous benefits for the environment and the community. Here are a few ways trees help all of us.
- Improve air quality by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen.
- Reduce urban heat by providing shade, lowering temperatures, and improving comfort during hot months.
- Enhance local biodiversity by offering habitats for birds, insects, and other wildlife.
- Combat climate change by reducing greenhouse gases and increasing carbon sequestration.
- Provide aesthetic and mental health benefits by improving the beauty of the neighborhood and creating peaceful green spaces.
- Support the ecosystem by filtering water and reducing stormwater runoff.
This event is part of 100K Trees for Humanity’s ongoing mission to plant trees throughout the Bay Area, combat climate change, and create more green spaces for future generations. Join us on March 29 and help plant a greener future for Alameda.
