Alameda Food Bank to Host Community Open House at New Facility Next Saturday

Our Alameda Food Bank invites the community to visit its new state-of-the-art facility at a Community Open House on Saturday, December 13. Stop by 677 West Ranger Avenue (Alameda Point) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This casual, drop-in event is open to neighbors, families, and friends. Guests can tour the facility, meet staff and volunteers, and learn about the Food Bank’s programs through informational displays. The open house highlights how the new space helps Alameda Food Bank provide culturally relevant, nutritious food with dignity, choice, and efficiency.

You might be surprised to see that the Island Community Market feels like a neighborhood grocery store. Clients get a grocery cart and shop for what they and their families want to eat. The aisles are filled with a wide selection of fresh produce, canned goods, frozen foods, proteins, bakery items, and other surprises. And when mobility is a barrier to shopping in person, the market offers curbside pickup.

The Open House event is free and open to the public. Families and community members are welcome to stop by any time during the three-hour window. Although it is an open house format, the Food Bank hosts ask those who plan to attend to RSVP online so they can provide the best possible experience for everyone.
