Shellsea Shines Brightest Away from the Shelter

Pet of the Week for January 17, 2026

It’s a well-known secret that some of the best dogs simply don’t present well in a loud shelter. Remember, first impressions aren’t everything. Shellsea is the perfect example of a hidden gem who needs to be away from the shelter to truly shine.

They say good things come to those who wait, and after a long stay at FAAS, Shellsea proved that to be true during a foster weekend.

Shellsea is a 3-year-old Staffy mix who we’d consider to be a powerhouse of personality—she has the regal attitude of a queen and the loving heart of a lap dog. In just a couple of days, she went from a stoic and oh-so-serious resident to a loving and appreciative pup who adores her quiet time.

If there is water nearby, Shellsea is definitely going to find it—she’s a natural scuba diver who loves to jump into any pool she finds. She has a playful energy about her, and can be quite athletic. She’s always game for tug-of-war if you are, or for a nice, long walk around Alameda or your local area.

We’re hoping someone can finally see the silly personality we’ve seen in her. At the end of the day, all she wants is to give you some extra love, ask for her favorite toys, and go on life’s biggest adventures with you. She is house-trained, focused, and ready for you to come and meet her.

If you’re interested in meeting Shellsea, please call FAAS at 510-337-8565 for more information.
