Pet of the Week for January 10, 2026
Lovable little Vixen has taken our hearts by storm! At 3 years old, we suspect Vixen has gone through more than the average pup. When she arrived at our shelter, we could sense significant panic and pain. There was an injury to her eye that made us uneasy—how long had she been roaming with this wounded eye?

Now that her injured eye has been removed, Vixen hasn’t just healed, she has completely blossomed. Her personality has exploded into a radiant, joyful dog. She leans heavily into every human she meets, asking for love and affection with a smile on her face. She went from visible constant panic to being a normal, loving, and exceptionally sweet dog.
We discovered that she also lost her hearing—but that doesn’t stop her from being a normal dog. She definitely hasn’t lost her spirit. Vixen navigates the world through touch and sight, often looking to her humans for guidance with an adorable, focused intensity.
And as she continues to heal and regain her strength, we believe Vixen will continue to grow into the cattle dog she was meant to be.
Vixen loves to play, and is a huge fan of fetch. She has clearly shown us that whatever has happened in her past doesn’t define her future—and she’s ready for a home that will absolutely adore her. She appears house-trained, and with time and proper introduction, we believe she’ll be a great pet-sibling to another dog!
