Pets of the Week for December 27, 2025
Happy holidays from the FAAS family to yours! During this holiday week, through January 1, all dogs 30 pounds and up are free to adopt, with no fees and no barriers. This is all thanks to Mouf, the Roving Reporter! This week, we would love to highlight some of our longest residents who may make a perfect addition to your home—and if you’ve ever considered adopting, now would be the time!

Carter
As our longest resident, Carter really deserves the world. He’s so sweet, and such a good boy! His fosters have mentioned that he has the best manners, and mostly just wants to snuggle with his humans as often as he can—plus he plays a great game of tug-o-war or keep away.
Huggy
She came into our shelter with another pup, and is a nervous girl who is just learning that the world isn’t as scary as the one she experienced. It will take a little time for her to build confidence, but she truly wouldn’t hurt a fly. She has a “once we’re friends, we’re friends for life” philosophy, and she will always look to you to show her the way. She would be the perfect addition to any family looking for a lover-pup.

Lydia
This sweet girl came to us so skinny and so scared, but now she has filled out beautifully! With the eyes of a puppy, she looks to you like you’re the light of the world. She would do well in a home that can help her continue to train her puppy energy.
Beans
A true shelter favorite, Beans is a gentle giant of a dog who absolutely adores spending time with you. He acts as a silent shadow, always following you and expecting love and affection without your typical husky energy. He’s mellow, loves other dogs both large and small, and cherishes every moment of each and every walk.

Spudz
How has Spudz not been adopted yet?! This good boy is so easy to walk, is house trained, and loves affection. It has not been easy for him in the shelter, but he doesn’t ask for much—just a comfy bed, lots of toys, and perhaps a human who likes to run as a bonus. He’s house-trained, dog-trained, and a total breeze.
Zeus
This zany boy is one you’ve seen before. He has a lot of energy but is the sweetest dog imaginable! He asks for belly rubs non-stop, and expects to be the light of your life.
Dusty Lucille
She’s a bright pup who wants to live out her wise days with you. She’s not the type to have non-stop energy—she much prefers to be comfy in a home with you as a solo pup. She is the sweetest girl who deserves the world, and is an easy one to fall in love with, if given the chance.
Come and walk one of our sweet pups! You never know who you’ll fall in love with at Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter at 1590 Fortmann Way. Please call 510-337-8565 for more information.
