Pet of the Week for December 20, 2025
The FAAS Shelter is now over capacity and could really use your help! During the holiday season, please consider fostering any pups on our website to help clear our kennels during the chilly season. If you have a little extra space, this could be a great way to help them decompress in a space that is warm and cozy.

Our adoptable Pet of the Week is Dusty Lucille! This sweet 6-year-old mix has spent more time in a kennel than a dog of her grace ever should. She dreams of a life with sun-drenched rugs and quiet comforts. She’s a dignified lady who doesn’t need to bark to make her presence known—she simply watches with an intelligent gaze that shows she knows more than she lets on.
Her foster home has described her as the queen of the household. She isn’t looking for a throne, though. She much prefers the comfy couch! She maintains a low-speed lifestyle, where her days can be enjoyed with a leisurely stroll. The goal isn’t distance—she prefers a little sniffari. You’ll often find her seeking the warmest spot in your home, belly up and napping in the best sunny patches she can find.

Dusty Lucille is a bright dog, who thrives on mental stimulation and would love puzzles or extra training. She would prefer to be the solo dog in the home and asks that other pups keep a distance from her on walks—she doesn’t trust them, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t friendly.
You can meet sweet Dusty Lucille during open hours at Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter, 1590 Fortmann Way, or call 510-337-8565 for more information.
