Sweet Spudz Just Wants a Simple Life, a Good Walk, and a Happy Home

Pet of the Week for December 13, 2025

First things first: Wow, you truly showed up for fostering our pups this holiday season! FAAS thanks you from the bottom of our hearts. Your support means the world to us, and we’re always looking for new fosters to help us home our deserving pups. We hope that you will continue to extend your homes, even for a short while, to give a stressed dog a much-needed break from the shelter environment.

Now, let’s talk about our sweet (and a little shy) Pet of the Week—Spudz, a true sweetie. At two-and-a-half years old, handsome Spudz is the type of dog who just wants a few simple things—a comfy bed, a mountain of chew and puzzle toys, and to run and play with his perfect human.

Spudz was previously established in a home, and through absolutely no fault of his own is available for adoption now. Losing his home was a tough transition, so he’s been a bit reserved since arriving at the shelter.

Don’t let his shyness fool you—he knows all his tricks, is house-trained, and is an active dog who absolutely loves a good run around the island or a hike. He is at his happiest when he can walk around with his tongue flopped out, always moving. We can see his sparkle coming back, and we think he’ll make a perfect companion for anyone with an active lifestyle who loves a dog with a little extra personality.

Spudz would love to go to a home where he can exist peacefully. He would thrive in an active lifestyle, and the fact that he has happily lived in an apartment previously proves he’s adaptable. He just needs a secure, loving presence to help him flourish!

Meet Spudz during open hours at Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter, 1590 Fortmann Way, or call 510-337-8565 for more information.
