Pets of the Week for December 6, 2025
The kindest gift you can give to a shelter pet this year won’t fit under a tree. It’s a temporary spot in your home to stay warm and cozy until their perfect family comes along. For this week’s spotlight, we’re focusing on our biggest need: Holiday Foster Heroes! Our shelter is filled with dogs, and more keep coming, so we’re looking to give each sweet, deserving pup a temporary break.

Remember, the first snapshot you see of a dog in a shelter is often not their truest self. They need time to decompress from the nonstop sounds and sights of the kennel. Fostering gives them the perfect opportunity to relax, breathe a little, and show us who they truly are—whether they are learning manners, need to be a cherished solo pup, or just have a bit of extra energy to burn off before settling down.
Think of them as the most grateful houseguest ever! FAAS provides all the necessities, from food and beds to medical care, so your primary focus can be fun, walks, and quality time. Help us spread the warmth and consider fostering for a few days. FAAS-ter with us—our pups will thank you greatly!
Here’s a quick snapshot of our pups who need it the most:

Zeus: Lover of carrots and belly rubs! He’s a husky, through and through, and will chat with you all day if he can. He has it all—charm, sass, and tons of charisma. He would benefit from an active foster.

Shellsea: This champion tug-of-war player knows exactly what she wants out of life—treats and adventure! She’s extremely sweet, and would excel with a consistent and patient foster who can help her learn that treats aren’t the only way to a gal’s heart. She needs someone who can be consistent and patient to help her shine.

Serpa: Sweet and demanding Serpa wants one thing and one thing only—walks at her own pace. She’s a classic, talkative husky who’s extremely photogenic and knows her good side. She lives to be on the move, making her perfect for someone with an outgoing lifestyle. She would benefit from an experienced dog handler who can help her continue to channel her energy into positive training.

Giselle: Don’t let her serious stare fool you; Giselle is sweet and all-loving. She knows what she wants—a loving family that understands the value of her strong spirit and offers her trust and loyalty. She finds joy in everything and will thrive with consistent guidance.

Jude: He wants to be involved in all activities. Hiking? Check. Lounging at home? Absolutely. He loves a game of fetch and will try to play all day if he can. He needs someone who can manage his enthusiastic greetings as he wants to say hi to everyone, and is working on managing his interest in other dogs. The shelter has made him wary of other pups, and with continued training and comfort, he’ll settle well!
Meet the pups during open hours at the FAAS Main Shelter, 1590 Fortmann Way, or call 510-337-8565 for more information.
