Pet of the Week for November 22, 2025
Some dogs greet the world like a whirlwind. Dusty Lucille greets it with quiet curiosity and a calm, steady grace.
At 6 years old, this large, lovely lady has perfected the art of savoring life’s simple moments. She enjoys her walks at an easy, thoughtful pace, stopping often to take in the world with that soulful look her foster family has fallen in love with. She’s not a marathon runner, but she’s an excellent hiking buddy for someone who appreciates a good meander and a scenic view.

Dusty Lucille is wonderfully bright, and she thrives when her days include a balance of movement and mental stimulation. A puzzle toy, a gentle training session, or a bit of sniff exploration makes her whole body relax with satisfaction. And after that? She’s a world-class napper. Sunbeams and soft couches are her happy places.
She’s a dignified spirit with a tender, loyal streak—the kind of companion who quietly becomes the heart of a home. From her cozy spot observing household goings-on to her gentle presence on quiet evenings, Dusty Lucille brings warmth without asking for much in return.
Dusty Lucille is currently in foster care. To meet her, please call Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter at 510-337-8565.
