Pets of the Week for October 4, 2025
Every resident at Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter is a Pet of the Week, at least this weekend! This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, October 3-5, all adoptable animals at FAAS will be free to adopt—no adoption fees, no barriers.

Thanks to a generous gift from Steven and Chan Kwong, in memory of their beloved dogs Melody and Mimi, FAAS is waiving all adoption fees—for dogs, cats, rabbits, and more—so more families can experience the joy of welcoming a companion.
Here are a few shining faces you might meet:
- Redvine: Redvine is 6 years old and full of heart. Sweet, curious, and smart, he’s outgoing, loves people and other big dogs, and balances his energetic side with couch-potato cuddles. Redvine is the ultimate mix of adventure buddy and snuggle partner.
- Sees: Sees is a 1-year-old sweetie who’s playful, warm, and eager to engage. She already knows “sit” and “shake,” loves ear scratches, and greets new people and fellow dogs with a wagging tail. With her intelligence and gentle spirit, she’ll quickly become a beloved companion.
- Waffle: At 9 years old, adorable Waffle still greets each day with hope and energy. She’s a gentle soul looking for a calm home where she can enjoy walks, naps, and quiet afternoons with someone who appreciates her loyal and loving nature.
- Let It Lager: Let It Lager is a curious, observant 4-month-old kitten. Quiet and affectionate, he’s the kind of companion who will bring soft purrs and comfort to a home ready for gentle feline company.
- Citron & Tangelo: This bonded pair of rabbits is shy but sweet once they feel safe. Citron is the elder, Tangelo the youngster, and together they’d thrive in a calm home where they can explore, play, and share their quiet charm.
If any of these purrfect pets find homes before you arrive, don’t worry, there are many other wonderful ones just waiting for you—and remember, every adoptable animal at FAAS qualifies for free adoption this weekend.
Visit either of FAAS’s two Alameda locations—the Main Shelter (dogs and cats) at 1590 Fortmann Way or the South Shore Adoption Center (cats and rabbits) at 2228 South Shore Center. Browse current adoptables and start your application online at the FAAS website.
Don’t miss this chance to give a shelter pet a fresh start—the best tribute to Melody and Mimi’s legacy of love.
