“Civic engagement is central to our democracy, and one way to actively participate is by getting involved,” stated Supervisor Lena Tam. “These entities play a crucial role in shaping policies, making decisions, and representing the diverse voices within our community.”

Opportunities are available on bodies that advise on issues such as parks, public health, consumer affairs, human relations, arts, transportation, and poverty reduction. The following District 3 boards, commissions, and committees have positions that are expiring in 2026 or are vacant, according to Tam’s office (click links to learn more):

Current incumbents interested in reappointment may submit a new application, resume, and cover letter, and participate in the interview process alongside other applicants before the term expires, Tam noted. Once the seats expire, they will be open to the public, and everyone will have the opportunity to apply at the discretion of the appointing authority.

Deadline: Applications, resumes, and cover letters are due Saturday, January 31, at 5 p.m. via the online application portal.

Interviews will take place starting in February and thereafter according to when the openings are available. Nominations will then occur and be presented at board meetings.
