Signups for March fundraiser tournament now open
The Alameda Lincoln Park Pickleballers held their fourth monthly Round Robin fundraiser over the weekend on January 31 and February 1. “We have been tasked to raise $15,000.00 to help with the cost of renovating the Pickleball courts at Lincoln Park,” said Brian Tremper, who serves as admin on the group’s Facebook page. “This month we hit the one-third mark towards that goal.”

During the past four fundraising tournaments, the Alameda Lincoln Park group has welcomed players from all over the Bay Area, including Piedmont, Oakland, Hayward, Berkeley, Fremont, Lamorinda, and beyond, Tremper said.
“We have also received help in decorating the courts from a great artist, Leanna Rivera, who creates a great poster for every season,” Tremper said.
The Lincoln Park Pickleballers are a diverse group in terms of age, ethnic, and linguist groupings, he added, “We welcome newcomers and love to share our love for the game.”
The Pickleballers’ Round Robin tournaments start at beginner and end with advanced intermediate. “We are one of the few groups that host a beginners’ tournament of any kind,” Tremper said.
The next fundraising tournament for the Lincoln Park courts is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8, noon to 4 p.m., at Lincoln Park. Those interested in playing can sign up on an interest list online at DailyPB.com at the following links:
- Saturday, March 7: Beginner 2.5 and under.
- Saturday, March 7: Low intermediate 2.5 to 3.0.
- Sunday, March 8: Intermediate 3.0 to 3.5.
- Sunday, March 8: Advanced Intermediate. 3.5 to 4.0.
“Some spots are filling up fast,” Tremper stated on the group’s Facebook page. “If all the spots are taken, put yourself on the waitlist. There is a good chance that some players will have to cancel.”
